Assam
Telecom Circle was formed on January 20, 1987. The Chief General Manager,
Assam Telecom Circle is in overall control of
all Telecom Services provided by BSNL in the entire state of Assam. The Circle Head Quarter
is at Panbazar, Guwahati-781001. CGMT is assisted by GM(NW-CFA &IT), GM(Fin), GM(S&M),
GM(EB&Biz Plg), GM(NW Plg), GM(NW Opn), GM(HR/Admn). In addition, the GMs in-charge of the
7(seven) Telecom Districts (SSA) also report to the CGM at Circle Office.
Assam Telecom Circle, BSNL is the largest Telecom Operator in
Assam providing comprehensive range of telecom services in the state:
Landline phone, WLL Mobile, GSM Mobile, Internet, Broadband, I-Net, IN
Services, Telegraph/Telex, Carrier service, MPLS-VPN etc. BSNL Assam
Circle is the only service provider, making focused efforts and planned
initiatives to bridge the Rural-Urban Digital Divide ICT sector. |

BSNL has emphasized focused development thrust on
the NE that includes redundancy in OFC media, 90% umbrella coverage on WLL,
extension of GSM Mobile coverage to villages having population > 1000 and
Broadband connections in all DHQs and important towns.

Assam
Circle has a strong & reliable transmission network. 25 out of 26 DHQs are having OF connectivity and 21 of them are in OFC ring. Works for
providing ring structure for remaining 5 DHQs is in progress. 6 out of 7 SSAs
HQs are protected with STM-16 ring. 4 SSA HQs are having DWDM connectivity.
Further expansion is going on. BSNL Assam is the only service provider which can
give different network options to the subscribers as per their requirement:
